This morning before breakfast, I noticed an article on MSN.com about Lexus’ new hybrid luxury car. This is one the first luxury cars from Lexus now projected to be priced above $100,000. What really made me upset, was the idea that you have to have a V8 in a hybrid in order to get the performance the American consumer is looking for. This is complete BS. There has been and still exists, 100% electric cars that out perform even Ferraris and Porsches.  And are ready for the improved gas mileage this “Green” hybrid will give you, 20 MPG City, 22 MPG Highway. That is ridiculous, with gas prices over $3.00 and global warming evident throughout the world, when are the auto makers going to wake and become part of the solution instead of keep harping about we are building what the consumer wants. When is the last time you asked what the consumer wants?

If you haven’t seen “Who killed the Electric Car?”, you should check it out. We were able to rent it from Blockbuster. We already had 100% electric cars being leases by three major car manufacturers, and all of the car were crushed. I almost cried when I saw this. The cars were awesome, fast and sporty. California had already invested in the infrastructure for electric charging stations, and then big business dropped the hammer and decided to go the direction of Hybrids, and Hydrogen Fuel Cells.  Of the reasons they stated for the end, one was range of use, and the other was price. For range of use, there are now electric cars such as the Tesla Roadster that has a range of 250 miles. For price, the hybrids are more than 100% electric would be, and they are less fuel efficient than may regular cars. Everyday, I am chocking on diesel fumes from a monster Dodge Power Ram at a stoplight, I wonder what it will be like when we finally get out of this addiction to gas and diesel. I can’t understand how something that emits a cloud of black smoke with each gear change can actually pass emissions testing.

I am considering putting togethor a website to collect consumers views at what would be their perfect solution to the gas crisis and our dependancy. In the meantime, feel free to leave a comment on the is post.Â

Here is the car I want to get, the Tesla Roadster.
