What is our core value or Commander’s Intent?

I am currently reading “Made to Stick” by Chip and Dan Heath, and they touch on a concept that was also discussed two weekends ago at Russell Brunson’s 7 Figure Bonus Seminar. That concept is to identify the core purpose of your business, and then not do anything within your business that strays away from this core value.
The last week after the event has been one of reflection as to what has worked for us in the past, what we are currently working on, and where do we want to see our business in the next few years, to ten years down the line.
Our most successfull past has been delivering what Mike Filsaime refers to as “The Button”. During the Adsense Gold Rush Period, we were able to provide coaching clients an application that allowed them to creating templated websites with scraped content in a matter of minutes. Our clients went on to make thousands of dollars in several months.
However, in retrospect, the button was a disservice to our customers. I say disservice, because while they were able to take advantage of an opportunity to make money, they were not able to build a business that would outlast the whims of the almighty big G. By big G, I am not talking about God, but Google in this case.
Over the last year, we have been building another push button solution, however we are now facing a crossroads and trying to determine if this is the best path to take. After learning our lessons with Adsense, and not building a list the first time around, we have developed a new system that allows you to create templated websites that can run adsense, promote affiliate products, and build a list. The system also takes advantage of many of the recent web 2.0 features such as tagging, customer voting, and a website community.
While the new solution is not as automated as our previous solutions, it saves our clients a great deal of time and is still very dynamic allowing for expansion as new technologies develop.
At this point, I believe we will only release what we are calling “The Online Marketing Matrix” to our innercircle members.
Our core value is to be The Marketing Department for small to medium sized businesses. Many small businesses have no idea how much money they are leaving on the table by not developing, managing, and tracking their marketing campaigns. Our goal is to provide a thirty minute consultation reviewing their current status and providing a recommended path to increasing their revenue and profits.
We are currently in the process of implementing new lead generation systems for our own business, that will then be modified and duplicated for our target vertical markets. We are also currently taking on a few project management clients for more short term assignments while we rebuild our core infrastructure.
