Here is your chance to swipe my SEO checklist.

As I grabbed some notepads before we left for Russell Bruson and Stu McLaren’s Affiliate Incubator, I found I grabbed and old notebook where I started listing out the different on-page SEO factors I check as I am reviewing my clients sites. I thought what better way to give back back to the readers of my blog than list them out here.

SEO Checklist

• Do your target keywords appear in the title of your webpage?
• Have you defined a KEYWORD META tag?
• Have you defined a DESCRIPTION META tag?
• Is there a Robots.txt file in the root folder of your website?
• Have you used your keywords in the content of your page with <H1>,<H2>, and <H3> tags?
• Do all of your images have ALT tags defined?
• How large is your webpage without graphics?
• How large is your webpage with graphics?
• Is there content on your page that is changing frequently?
• Are you using Javascript on your website?
• Is the Javascript contained in external files or inline?
• Are you using CSS?
• Is the CSS defined in external files or inline?
• Does the site have a blog or RSS feed?
• Can a visitor easily bookmark the site in social bookmarking sites?
• Does the site have a sitemap?
• Is site content tagged with Technorati tags?
• Are the webpages named with keywords in the URL?
• Has a press release been submitted promoting the site?
• Is the site in your forum signatures?
• Has a Squidoo Lens/ Hubpages Page been created linking to the site?
