Integrating Your Wordpress Blog With Twitter

Jan 23rd, 2008 | By Kevin | Category: How To, blogging, traffic

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed with Feedburner. Thanks for visiting!

I just got done connecting my good friend Robby LeBlanc’s blog, Fat To Fit 101 with his new Twitter.com account. Since his blog is using wordpress, I was able to use a plugin from Alex King called Twitter Tools. Of the plugins available, this is the only one I have found that give the best two way communication between your blog and Twitter.com

What I mean by this is anything I post on my blog, automatically gets posted on Twitter with an active link back to my blog, and anything I post on Twitter, automatically gets posted on my blog the next day as a summary.

The benefit of this, really comes into to play as the number of followers you have on Twitter increases. Right now, I have 175 followers on Twitter, so each day when I post to my blog, a new “tweet”, shows up on their group timelines, with an active link back to the post. This brings return traffic back to my blog resulting in increased traffic.

The second benefit, is the individual tweet pages are getting indexed in google as well, and are optimized based on the title of your post.

If you’re not on Twitter yet, and your running a wordpress blog on your own hosting, you should check it out. If you’re running a blog on blogger, or wordpress.com this functionality wouldn’t be available as a plugin.

You can follow me on twitter by hitting the follow button on my Twitter Page Here.

  1. Interesting little plugin, thanks for sharing. This could come in handy and build up a decent amount of backlinks over time.
