Exploring Moblogging with free web services

One of the keys to increased traffic on my blog is more frequent updates. In order to make more updates, I have been researching ways to blog and create content away from the computer with my new Blackberry Pearl phone. One of the new services I was checking out today was Utterz.com. Each service I found so far has it’s benefits, and drawbacks. Two services, Jott.com and Spinvox.com actually transcribe the message you leave from your phone with pretty good accuracy. Utterz.com doesn’t transcribe the audio message but posts to your blog with an audio player and link to the mp3 for download.
During my testing today, I had some problems with the player from Utterz, but it looks like it was possibly a flash problem with either the browser I was using or the corporate security environment on the client site.
To help compare the different services and how they link into the different sites you may be creating content for, I have created a table identifying the sites each service supports.

With Spinvox, Wordpress, and Movable Type are supported through the blogging by email features of those platforms. I now have accounts with Spinvox, and Utterz. My partner, Rick Dearr has tested Jott on his blog, and other than no transcription option, I like Utterz the best so far.
The only other drawback I have, is even though my Blackberry phone has everything under the sun, I do not have the capability to record video, only play video.
I do see where I will be expanding content across multiple media platforms, using my phone and these services to publish multimedia content and crosslink the sites providing a greater reach across the network of sites.
