While it had been rumured to be going away for a long time, the Overture tool now redirects you to the Yahoo Search Marketing landing page.  Historically, the Overture tool, was the place to be for search engine marketers to go to for their keyword research.

Many of the keyword research tools used the Overture data in the past and as it suffered it’s slow death, the tools started to fail.

Personally, I haven’t been using Overture for over a year.  One of the key resources I turn to now is the free keyword research tools available at SEOBook.com.  SEOBook has consolidated many of the various keyword tools into one place making it very easy to research your keywords and establish your vertical markets for structuring your website for the best optimization in the new landscape of Semantic Web.

One of the best keyword tools out there that has evolved with the changes to the search engines is Keyword Elite, which we also use in addition to SEOBook tools.
