Ok, so that was supposed to be “Do No Evil” but maybe that title ha more truth to it. Reading through RSS feeds today, I came across the news of Google’s new virtual world Lively. The premise of the story was Google has
an
extremely lucrative positionGoogle has an extremely lucrative position in being the #1 search engine in the world. In their data centers, they have a wealth of knowledge into what exactly people are searching for the most. Now the question is how they use that data.

The article also mentioned that Hitwise has had a very good track record predicting what the big G is up to next. it seems in January they predicted Health, Travel and Virtual Worlds. Since then, they have launched Google Health and then released Lively this week. Is Google travel right around the corner?

Other markets rumured in the article are Used Cars and Music. The big problems around Music are with licensing which they still seem to be working out with YouTube.

Travel is probably next, direct links to flight and hotel reservations at the top of search results for places around the world which would also integrate very nicely with Google Maps.

While I realize it is just good business and they own the information they are mining to domainte these markets, when will the Google killer come along and turn Google into our Arch Enemy like Microsoft?
