Going through some of my sketch pads with notes from previous seminars tonight, I came across some real gems from Jim Edwards. I imagine this is from Big Seminar a few years ago, but unfortunately I didn’t date them.
Jim led the presentation with the big club to the head for most of us; Stop Being A Perfectionist!
Do you have projects you started but never really released because it just wasn’t perfect? Let’s face it, they never will be perfect, it is better to get products out there that are complete, but not necessarily perfect. I am not saying release something that isn’t complete, or doesn’t work, but DO SOMETHING!
Another great gold nugget from Jim was “Don’t do anything, you can’t do once and get paid over and over again” Here is one of the biggest problems with my consulting business. It is completely reliant on me being involved. The ideal business is one you can setup once and the checks keep coming in.
Jim’s formula for product success is to focus on Intense Problems or Desires.
Customer who have intense problems or desires are:
- Less Price Sensitive
- Less Hesitant To Buy Now
- Don’t Shop Around For Better Prices
- Have A Lower Refund Rate
- He did say to factor in about a %5 refund bonehead factor
When you’re selling an ebook, you’re not selling a book, you’re selling results. When writing your salesletter, focus on the results they will experience and less on the features/chapters. Connect with your customer through your own personal experience.
I’ll try to add some more notes from various presentations later this week. I hope you were able to get something out of this one.
