Today Is The End Of Entrecard

I decided to finally cut the line on Entrecard. Today I logged into my account, and cancelled any pending ads, along with the ads queued up to show in the next couple days. I have come to the conclusion that Entrecard is no longer worth my time or the space on my blog. Today will be the last day I will be displaying the widget. I have also made a few other changes here based on the advertising stats I have been looking at. The three widgets I had at the top of my blog were not performing well, so I have eliminated them. I will probably be integrating the display advertising more into the individual post pages and may start testing some different format adsense blocks as well. Historically, I had some higher valued clicks through adsense, but the CTR was not worth the distraction from the content I was providing. A few weeks ago I notice some other ad blocks on Michel Fortin’s blog that integrated better with the post and all probably start doing the same later this week.
If you are seeing a good return in traffic for your time at Entrecard, continue to use it. In my experience it was more of a distraction, and the advertisers that were selecting my blog had blog outside of my target market.
Hopefully you will think the changes are an improvement.
