I Am Now In Entrecard Exile

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed with Feedburner. Thanks for visiting!

Earlier this week I got an email from the folks at Entrecard that they have redesigned the entrecard economy again. I started reading the email and then got totally lost with the new fangled economy and all the “benefits” of the changes. I have not had the Entrecard widget on my blog for several months now, but I guess I remained in the directory at the end of my selected category.

last night I recieve another email saying my account was deleted because of a violation of terms of service. It turns out term #7 requires you have the widget on your blog. Makes sense, and I am not to broken up about the removal since I am concentrating on getting better traffic to my blog than what the Entrecard community can provide.

With that said, I did notice my Alexa rating slip another 100,000 points this week, much like the stock market. Probably caused by the decline of visitors from the decline in frequency of posts. So, I have now started writing again to boost the Alexa rating back into a more respectable range.

Thanks goes out to all my readers that have stayed with me along with any new readers that are reading this post. I hope the new content I am adding proves useful to you, and you actually subscribe to my RSS feed or autoresponder.

  1. Sounds like the Alexa slipped because of the removal of the Entrecard account

  2. Hi Graham,

Alexa slipped when I first removed Entrecard from my site several months ago. But the amount of time the visitor remained on my site went up. There was ahuge drop after the rework of the entrecard credit system and bloggers stopped chain dropping each other. I believe this was a good change even though it brought everyone’s rank down.

The blogs which had a real following still remained powerful in the community and even more out of reach as the amount of credits required to appear on their blog reached 5 and 6 figures.

I just went over to Google Analytics and checked stats for July, August and September.

I removed the Entrecard widget and cancel advertisers on August 10th.

Here are the stats that make me think it was a good idea:

    Bounce Rate:
    July: 80.15%
    Aug: 79.72%
    Sept: 75%

    A decrease of 5%

    Average Time on site:

    July: 54 seconds
    Aug: 1 minute 9 seconds
    Sept: 1 minute 11 seconds

I am sure not all of this can be attributed to the removal of Entrecard because other changes have been made since as well.

If you have a new blog, Entrecard is a great way to jumpstart the traffic and I have included it as a resource in my Niche Traffic Blueprint ebook.

Blogger simply need to look at the quality of traffic along with the quantity and Entrecard was giving me the quality I desired.
