Trevor Crook On Profiling Your Customer

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed with Feedburner. Thanks for visiting!

In this video, Trevor goes over how to dig deeper and profile your customer before writing copy to appeal to them.  I also do this as part of my niche research when looking at a new niche.

The information that Trevor asks the audience for is readily available through media kits of the different magazines you think your customer read as well as direct mail lists that are available in the SRDS (Standard Rate and Data Service).

The bottomline is you want to target your customer with laser accuracy and you do that through market research.  Too many times we thing in broad strokes of what our customer looks like, mainly because it is easier.

Here are some targeting demographics to consider:

  • How old are they?
  • Are they married or single?
  • Does this product appeal more to women or men?
  • What is their income?
  • Do they travel?
  • Do they have any children?
  • How much do they spend in your market each year?

Here is the video, let me know what you think in the comments.

  1. Kevin,

Another good (and free) market research tool is available on our website here: http://lists.nextmark.com/

    Hope that helps!
