I was out on RentaCoder.com tonight submitting a project and thought I would look into some of the current projects out there.

One of the projects I found for SEO and Pagerank improvement is a great example of overzealous expectations and unrealistic constraints. The funny thing about it is the project request is requesting exactly what the owners of the website are supposed to be providing as a service themselves.

Here is the project description:

I need my client’s website in the top 10 results for Google, Yahoo and MSN. I don’t want generic directory/seo/submission offers. I need you to guarantee that you can get my site there, and to also tell me the amount of time it would take, your strategy, etc….

Note, this is a newly purchased domain.

I also need to improve page rank PR 6 or above

Drive targeted traffic to specialty website via search engines, directories, classifieds, article websites, etc. Promote websites through blogs (blogspot, wordpress, etc.), forums, yahoo answers, etc.

VERY IMPORTANT: Your methods should bring in at least 5k UNIQUE VISITORS in the first week & more after SEO.

GUIDELINES:
- Only white hat methods & legitimate ways permitted!
- UNITED STATES, CANADA and UK TRAFFIC ONLY!
- Traffic must be targeted/interested/real
- No spam, bots, robots, link farms, exchanges
- No visitors from auto surf site, A-rated site. No fake visitors.
- Link must be located on PR3+ page.
- Link must not have NO FOLLOW tag.
- No dynamic links, redirects, JavaScript links, hidden links.

Include these questions in Bid/Comments:
- Tell us exactly what you’ll do (methods) and how you’re going to do it.
- Give us exact details on pricing & number of links
- Frequency & methods of updates (Timing and verification of where you post, put links, etc.)
- Successful bidder would tell me initially about what areas in SEO (in my website) need improvements.
- Please state your previous SEO experience and work link with keywords.
- What methods you will be using to obtain a PR 6 or above

Note, I will not send any payment until the project has been completed. Once the project is completed I will hire you personally to complete the SEO of my other sites (At least 18 more web sites).

So let me get this straight, you expect at least 5,000 visitors the first week and more after SEO, come on dude get real. Granted daily visitor estimates across the top 3 search engines are 13,141 for the keyword “web design” however there are also 198,000,000 results in google for that keyword. Could you pick a more competitive market?

If you look at their site, you’ll find that they are supposed to provide SEO services themselves. It seems they didn’t get past step 1 in their process “keyword analysis”.

Well there is more to it than that boys, probably why your on rentacoder getting bids and asking for the exact methods an actual SEO expert is going to use to get you ranked.

I highly doubt this project will even get any bids but it may get some out of India.

Another funny thing is their testimonial from Matt Law.

Why are these guys going to RentACoder then to get ranked?

OK, never may be harsh, their site looks pretty good, so maybe web design is really their thing.

However, the next project after the SEO & Pagerank project os for a Ready Made Real Estate site for another one of their customers.

If you have some project management skills, this could be a good business model for you. Create a front end facade as a web development seo company, and then outsource the work on the cheap through rentacoder.
