A Few More Changes On My Blog

Nov 5th, 2008 | By Kevin | Category: Featured Posts, blogging

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed with Feedburner. Thanks for visiting!

Earlier this week, I was testing out a popup script from one of the free script sites.  You may have seen it if you visited earlier this week.  It seems IE7 has some javascript issues that are not only causing havoc with the latest version of Wordpress, but the SetTimout function in Javascript as well.

After working with it for several hours and testing in both Firefox and IE7 I finally gave up.  I was trying to delay the popup from appearing right away and not pop until within about 30 seconds of teh average stay here on KevinHDavis.com.

To replace the free script, I found bought another script Robby LeBlanc recommended to me that Michel Fortin uses on his blog, Action Popup.  While it looks like action popup has the same issue, I have changed my method and am now showing an exit pop when you are leaving the blog to promote my Twitter Tactics videos.

The new script is more fancy than the original one I tried and comes along with 3 plugins I will be using here that use AJAX show the user can actually stay on the page after they optin.  I will be using that plugin to replace the subscribe box to the right in the sidebar.

I also bought the Revolution Lifetime subscription and plan on tweaking a template from that batch to possibly replace this one.  I may implement the template on another blog instead, time will tell.

This week’s buzz was Blogging To The Bank 3.  I was able to review a copy.  Nothing earth shattering, but still a couple tips to walk away with and test to see if they actually make a difference.  at thi spoint I don’t plan on promoting it and my core focus is on our next project in prelaunch December 1st, Internet Marketing Helpdesk.  I uploaded some free wordpress training on the site this week, and uploaded two other courses tongith that i will be releasing in the helpdesk later this week.

Through out the month, access will be free for you to check it out.  I may extend it through prelaunch as well if you signup.  We are also looking for JV partners for the launch, so shoot me an email or use the contact us form if your interested.  It will be a monthly membership site, so it is great way to get a recurring commision each month.

Feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you think about the popup.  It is using cookies, so you should only see it a few times a week.

Thanks,
Kevin
