Real Blog Videos ease WordPress set-up
For a complete novice, setting up a blog can be a daunting task especially if your computer knowledge basically consists of being able to turn it on , surf the net and check email. There are programs out there that probably cater to the newbie but for a wannabe affiliate marketer the future is WordPress. WordPress is a state of the art, free blogging program that is aesthetically pleasing and programmed to do well with SEO. While researching their site, it became very clear that I would need to acquire much more information to be successful at setting up my blog. Luckily, rather than spending countless hours reading and trying to absorb WordPress lessons I found the answer to my prayers. There is a great series of videos by Jon Symons that are specifically aimed at the beginning blogger. All technical aspects are covered: from picking a domain name, registering it, web hosting set-up and step by step ways of getting WordPress loaded onto your domain. The videos were all done with Camtasia Studio so you basically watch and learn as Jon sets up a demo blog. There are 5 separate video lessons consisting of approximately 2 hours.
Lesson 1: Keywords-Before you Begin
Lesson 2: Register a Domain Name
Lesson 3: Sign up and configure a Hosting Account
Lesson 4: Install a WordPress blog and do the First Post
Lesson 5: Customize and configure your Blog
Bonus Video 1: Blogging Copy and Paste Tip
Bonus Video 2: How to install WordPress manually
Bonus Video 3: How to install WordPress on Dreamhost
All the videos are extremely informative for anyone new to blogging. If you have a blog and want to get independent hosting outside of Blogger.com, Typepad.com or WordPress.com that is also covered. The videos are not advanced and all information is explained in easy, understandable terms. Two different hosting companies are demonstrated and a savings coupon is also included if you want to use one of these hosts. Overall, the videos seem to be well thought out and an unbelievable bargain for only $15.
As a visual learner, I found these videos to be the perfect way to efficiently and effectively set up my first blog. I would’ve spent countless hours searching through web pages trying to digest all the information. Instead, for such a low price, I had all the information pointed out for me and am able to go back and re-watch anything I didn’t absorb the first time.
If you’re just starting out with WordPress I would definitely recommend these videos for the wealth of knowledge they contain. If you’re already familiar with website design and blogs they probably won’t contain much you don’t already know.
